Growing Cannabis Properly
Bring your Premium Cannabis Seeds to life...!
Important information about cannabis cultivation in Germany The law on the handling of consumer cannabis (KCanG) strictly regulates the private cultivation of cannabis in Germany.
Please note the following important points:
- - Number of plants and age: Private cultivation may only be carried out by adults aged 18 and over and is limited to a maximum of three cannabis plants. Any additional plants are illegal.
- - Personal consumption: The cannabis grown is intended exclusively for personal consumption. Any form of sale or distribution to third parties is punishable.
- - Location: The cultivation must take place at your own place of residence or habitual abode.
Violations of the KCanG can lead to the confiscation of the plants and the initiation of criminal proceedings.
Growing cannabis remains a responsible activity even under the new legal framework. Please inform yourself comprehensively about the risks and side effects of consumption as well as the legal situation, which may change spontaneously.

Starting with the best cannabis seeds from Relifa and following the steps below will help you achieve maximum yields. So sit back, relax and let's dive into the world of green thumbs together.
First things first: To ensure your plants thrive, you need a few basics:
- The right soil: Organic soil is great, but there are other great options.
- Light: Nothing grows without light! The right lighting is crucial for your yield.
- Water: Pay attention to the pH value so that your plants can absorb all the nutrients.
- Air: Fresh air is important, but your plants don't like drafts.
- Temperature: Not too hot, not too cold β this is how your plants feel comfortable.
- Food: Cannabis plants also need something to eat, i.e. the right fertilizer with the right nutrients.
That sounds like a lot, right? Don't worry, we'll walk you through it step by step. The easiest way to get started is with a complete grow kit and our seeds.
But letβs finally get into our step-by-step guide:
Step 1: Decide where you want to grow your cannabis plant
Indoors or outdoors - which is better for you? Both options have their advantages and disadvantages. Growing outdoors is often cheaper because Mother Nature takes care of a lot: you get sunlight and fresh air for free. However, there are also risks outside - such as theft, pests, prying eyes or hungry animals. Indoor growing, on the other hand, is a bit more expensive because you have to regulate the lighting, temperature and humidity yourself, but you have full control over the growing conditions. For example, you can control the light cycle and determine when the plant should flower.
So what should you pay attention to? It's best to start small, especially if it's your first attempt. Keep everything clean and make sure that no light comes through unnecessary openings. The right temperature, humidity and ventilation are crucial - as is keeping an eye on the electricity bill, which can increase when growing indoors. And don't forget: keep everything within budget!
Step 2: Choose your growing medium
Do you want to try different growing methods? There are more options than just soil. Let's look at the options:
Earth
The most classic and widely used medium is soil. It is readily available and naturally contains nutrients. Grass grown from soil often has a particularly good aroma and is relatively easy to grow: just put the seeds in the soil and off you go! If you choose high-quality potting soil, you can start growing almost immediately. In addition, you can add special nutrients or mix your own "super soil". When buying soil, look for brands that have a good mix, for example with earthworm compost.
Erdlos
You can also grow cannabis without soil, which often results in faster growth and higher yields. You just have to add the right nutrients yourself, as soilless media such as rockwool, coco coir, vermiculite or perlite do not contain any nutrients of their own. But otherwise it is similar to soil.
hydroponics
Growing plants in hydroponics sounds complicated at first, but it isn't necessarily so. You need the right system and the right nutrients, but then you'll often be rewarded with very fast growth and particularly strong plants. Sounds great, right? Just make sure you're well informed and don't fall for bad tips. With the right care, you can hope for a rich harvest.
So you have the most important steps to get started, whether indoors, outdoors, with soil or without - decide what suits you best and get started!
Step 3: Choose the right nutrients
Cannabis plants also need "food". It is important that you know which nutrients are suitable for your growing medium - soil, soilless or hydroponic. Different media require specific nutrients. With the wrong additives, growth could suffer. However, if you stick to the recommended nutrient charts and follow the instructions exactly, everything will go smoothly.
Fertilizing is useless if your plants can't absorb the nutrients. So make sure that the pH value in the root area is correct, especially if you are using liquid nutrients. This is very easy: adjust the pH value of the water before watering. A pH test kit helps enormously here. Different media also need different pH values. For soil, the ideal range is 6.0 to 7.0, while for hydroponics the pH value should be between 5.5 and 6.5. If you follow these "rules", you can look forward to denser flowers and higher yields.
Step 4: Choose an easy cannabis strain for beginners
Completely new to the topic? No problem! There are strains that have been developed especially for beginners. Autoflowering cannabis seeds are a good place to start - they don't need a special lighting cycle to flower. This has two advantages: Firstly, you save money on expensive light timers. Secondly, you don't have to worry about accidentally changing the light cycle too late or too early and can look forward to a reliable harvest. Autoflower seeds also have a shorter flowering time than photoperiod plants and are therefore easier to care for. Another good option: feminized seeds. These are guaranteed to produce female plants, which means that you don't have to deal with male plants that don't produce flowers during the flowering process.
Are you wondering where to get such seeds? All Relifa seeds meet these criteria - you just have to choose your favorite flavor and the cannabinoid content or terpene profile.
With our varieties, starting your cannabis cultivation is child's play!
Step 5: Set up lighting
The right lighting is crucial when growing indoors, as mistakes can quickly be made that can reduce the yield. Outdoor growers have it easier in this regard, as the sun - at least in summer - does the work. Indoors, however, it is important to know that cannabis plants need different amounts of light in the growth and flowering phases. During the growth phase (vegetative phase), 18 hours of light per day is ideal; during flowering, you then switch to 12 hours. Make sure that your lighting system is tight - light that penetrates outside during the dark phases can stress your plants and, for example, cause them to accidentally fall back into the growth phase or develop male flowers.
Here are the most common types of lighting for indoor growing:
HID grow lights
High-intensity discharge (HID) lamps provide a lot of light for their power consumption. Even though they are not as efficient as LEDs, they are considered the industry standard and are popular with many growers. But: When should you use which HID lamps? There are two main types: metal halide (MH), which are ideal for the growth phase, and high-pressure sodium (HPS), which are at their best in the flowering phase. However, these lamps produce an enormous amount of waste heat, which can be particularly annoying in smaller apartments.
LED lamps
LED lamps are more expensive to buy, but they offer many advantages: They generate the least heat, have a long lifespan and are particularly energy efficient. High-quality LED models even offer a full light spectrum - and that usually means higher yields and better quality.
induction lamps
Induction lamps are an interesting option for indoor cultivation because they provide a uniform light spectrum with little fluctuation in light intensity. There are two types: magnetic induction lamps (suitable for both growth phases) and plasma induction lamps, which do not cover the full light spectrum. In pure plasma setups, marijuana often grows poorly or not at all - which is why experienced growers advise against this type of lighting.
Step 6: Establish climate monitoring and control - temperature and humidity
Indoor growers need to keep a close eye on and control the climate in the grow room or grow box to ensure that the plants can develop optimally. Conditions outside the box or room, such as extreme heat or high humidity, often affect the interior. That's why it's important to adjust the temperature, humidity and air circulation. For example, if your grow room is a damp basement, a heater or dehumidifier will help regulate the temperature. In rooms that are too hot, air conditioning or additional fans will provide cooling. A useful trick is to turn the lights on at night (when it's cooler outside) and turn them off during the day - this saves energy and ensures the right temperature. Just remember that you can only care for the plants when the lights are on - so maybe more often at night!
Step 7: Find the right flowerpot
The right pot for your plants makes a real difference to their growth. From classic plastic pots to ceramic pots and fabric containers, there are countless options. It is important that the pot meets the needs of your plants, for example in terms of size and root density. Here are a few things to consider before buying:
- Nutrient supply: The pot should create optimal conditions so that the roots can absorb the nutrients well - this also means that the pH value of the soil and the temperature should be right.
- Air supply: Make sure the pot is well ventilated so that oxygen can reach the roots and they can grow vigorously. - Drainage: The pot should hold enough water (although the soil/substrate also plays an important role here) without drowning the roots. Too much water leads to root rot, so make sure the amount of moisture is moderate.
- Space for the roots: Roots need space to branch out. Small pots can be cramped and the plant may feel "cramped".
- Whether you are just germinating seeds or already want to repot seedlings, make sure that the pots are large enough and provide the necessary conditions for healthy root growth.
Step 8: Growing your first marijuana plant
Now it's time to grow your first marijuana plant! Here are the steps you should follow: Choose the best Relifa seeds for your needs, plant the seeds, and make sure your plants get enough water. Feed them with organic nutrients and make sure they have the right lighting, temperature, and air circulation. Don't forget to recognize the difference between the vegetative phase and the flowering phase. And then comes the best part: harvesting!
What you should pay attention to
As with any plant, it's important to check your cannabis plants regularly and make sure everything is going well. Here are a few things to pay special attention to:
- Strange coloring or spots: Pay attention to whether the leaves take on strange colors or show spots.
- Leaves fall off or curl up: If the leaves fall off, curl up or even die, this is an alarm signal.
- Odor: A strange smell can indicate problems.
- Slow growth rate: If your plants are not growing as expected, this could be a warning sign.
- Stretching: Excessive stretching may indicate that they are not getting enough light.
- Pests: Keep an eye out for pests that may harm your plants.
Take good care of your plants and you will soon be able to reap the fruits of your labor!
A fundamental question: Indoor vs. Outdoor
Compared to growing outdoors, growing indoors has many advantages. Here are some of them! Safety : If you have neighbors or thieves nearby waiting for your harvest, growing indoors can help avoid that. Year-round growing : Whether it's summer or winter, you can grow your cannabis plants anytime without having to worry about the seasons like outdoor growers do. High-quality flowers : Even though growing indoors can be more expensive, you can design your environment to achieve high-quality flowers. You just need to choose the right parameters like lighting, nutrients, and growing medium.
Of course, growing marijuana outdoors has its charms, especially if you have a large garden and don't have to worry about neighbors. Here are some of the benefits of growing outdoors! Low costs : You use the sun as your main energy source, so you save on the cost of indoor lighting and timers. And you do n't need air conditioning or a dehumidifier either. Robustness of plants : Indoors, things can quickly become critical if it's too hot or too humid, which often happens to beginners.
But how can I control the smell of cannabis indoors?
Outdoor growers usually don't have a problem with the smell of cannabis, but indoor growers do, especially during the flowering phase. Activated carbon filters can help here! Place these filters at the highest point in your grow room. Odor-absorbing gels can also help; these won't eliminate the smell, but they will mask it and introduce other scents. Good air circulation is also helpful, not only in controlling temperature and humidity, but also in minimizing the smell. Fans can be very useful here. Check temperature and humidity levels: High temperatures and humidity can increase the smell. You may want to equip your grow area with a humidifier to reduce the humidity.
